We’re helping a domestic abuse survivor to navigate her new life – by addressing the financial, emotional and physical effects of what she’s been through.
The woman, who now lives alone, was financially struggling. An arm injury sustained from her abuser also limited her ability to do grocery shopping, exacerbated by the fact she’s living in a rural area with limited transport.
All of this was underpinned by the emotional impact of abuse and subsequent financial hardship. She was in an extremely challenging situation.
When Live Well Kent & Medway was asked to provide support, we knew that all the issues she faced needed to be addressed if she was going to be able to rebuild her life.
To overcome the trauma she’d experienced, we helped her access a domestic abuse support service. (Please note – Live Well Kent & Medway doesn’t provide domestic abuse support.)
Because she also needs practical support, we’ve been delivering food parcels and helping with benefit applications that will get her back on her feet. And she’s been given a splint for her arm, paid for by a grant we helped her to access.
She’s now in a much better place – emotionally and financially.
“My support worker really helped when I was struggling and in a time of need. They were very supportive, took away some of the worries I had and helped me move forward. I’m very thankful.”
